He was trying to make $$$ off of you... just get some electric fans and be done with it... (do it yourself)VinceSez wrote:Is it possible to stop the clutch fan while it's running? heh, thats what most mechanics do. i believe doing your own work is funner but.. getting the electric ones will of course be harder to run than the OEM unit but.. in the long run, its welll worth it.Kenrik wrote:He was trying to make $$$ off of you... just get some electric fans and be done with it... What a dumbarse.... When it's cold it should just spin freely with a bit of resistance and when it gets hot it should lock up..VinceSez wrote:
lol the mechanic actually stopped it while it was running, not securing it in anyway.
werd, happened on a friends car. I put a GM electric fan on my car and worked well.ILikeMy240sx wrote:

Usually when they go bad, you can hear it because the clutch is locked at all times so you sound like a huge garbage truck...
Ya, I just changed mine couple weeks ago when I started hearing that noise (stock one lasted 142k miles). I got a new one at autozone for 35 or so bucks and I changed it out in serioulsy 5 min. The new autozone one sucks crazy amounts of air that when I redline my car it serioulsy sounds like a turbo spooling no lie LOL.ILikeMy240sx wrote:
