hello people,

i had a tail light inoperative warning so i replaced all of the bulbs in the rear of the car.

the warning is still there and now it's saying that the stop light is inoperative as well.

is there any way to reset this or this the car actually believe that these bulbs are out?

thanks,

ahmed

btw tis a 1995 Q45a

Check all the sockets and wires couplings (not just tailights) then the previous posts.

Frank, do a search on light bulb resistance, I think after you check the sockets and clear those -you should try different bulbs. What happens is the sensor goes by the overall resistance of the bulb, if they're not right the light stays on...

Cheap bulbs can cause this. If you still have a good original bulb, check it, then find about the same in (I think it was) Sylvania.

Let us know....

Check your stop light sensor - sometimes it goes bad as well. When it went bad on me, the stop light stopped coming on when the brake pedal was depressed. The rear window light was OK, but the tail lights stopped working and the stop light sign was on.

Two of my bulbs go on and off if wiggled. Scraping the connectors with a flathead screwdriver helped a bit, but not a whole lot.

Socket assemblies are cheap from Joe... probably worth it before you start blowing fuses.

don't forget to check the stop lights in the rear window--they also fail and turn the warning light on.

yeah. i solved the problem. i tried to get fancy and use led stop/tail lights. i just replaced them with standard sylvania's and voila! the error went away.

i would like to thank my god, my mother...

Yeah... the LEDs pull much less current than the bulbs, so the sensor won't "see" them... I tried some 1157s in the Q, and had the same result - I suspected it would happen before I tried it, but just wanted to try the bulbs. They're in my truck now...
