2004 Nissan maxima

The car won't let me get out from park position unless I manually tab down shift lock. Non off brake light work not even 3rd brake light when I press the brake pedal. Once I put fuse in the stop lamp fuse and it blow them away while pressing brake pedal. Cruise control come on but won't let me set on cc only keep blinking.

Before this (above) I had warning light for door that telling me door is not closed even thought it was. That door warning light was for front driver door. Later I had problem that postive battery pop during hwy, so later we only replace terinmal on the battery but we put negative terinmal instead off putting positive kind there idk y he did that. After that I guess it reset door warning light it never came back on. All this on 1st paragraph happen after this. I hope that negative cable don't have anything to do with this right?

Lets start with 2 things
Age & condition of battery? (Using a voltmeter - what does it show when you turn the key)

If it's the original battery, there's a good chance you're seeing issues due to overworking the alternator.

Turn to Acc = 12.5
Turn to Start engine on= 14.3
I check this using my pioneer nav volt screen.

Battery is 1 year old it new.

(This isn't Maxima specific)

Okay, next I'd look at the "brake switch". There should be one under the dash, it's what allows you to move the shifter out of P. If it's gone bad, you wouldn't be able to shift from P without the over ride button. It may be contributing to the other issues, but not sure.

I forgot to mention that I did put new brake switch and it did same thing nothing changed.

On my Nissan manual book it said this; if shift lock not working then brake light won't work.

When you press the brake pedal, can you hear the "click" of an actuator?

I've heard of several people damaging the brake light switch when installing it on Audi/VW's, not sure if the same issue is common on Nissans.

Have you tried removing all the brake lights and seeing if there's any bad sockets?

Idk if I remember that I heard click. I may have to test it again by putting new fuse again n press pedal n see if I hear click or not.

I may have to take out brake light bulb n check sockets. I'm going to take it my mechanic n have it check it by. I was just trying to see what I need to check so mechanic won't charged me tons off labor.
Give me aleast 3 days n I'll come back with updated asap.

Looking at the socket, base and bulb of all the lights, may help you identify an bulb or socket that's gone bad. On the older Q45's we sometimes saw sockets almost melt around the base of a bulb.

The bad news is, "finding" electrical issues is almost always a long and costly process.

Good luck.

As far as I know, if the hazard switch is nonfunctional, your turn signals also won't work.

Try removing brake bulbs one by one and see if applying the brake blows a fuse. If a specific bulb blows the fuse, replace it; if that doesn't work, you probably have a wiring fault.

My turn signal work fine but just the emerngy flashing light don't work. Idk what he did while he was in there. Should I take to Nissian dealership? I hate to but idk what to do. Would stero shop know?

When I press the button inside the car for flashing light it won't come on. The only thing he did is take out shift cover n look. Can button switch fail for making flashing light come on?

I would make sure 4 way flasher switch is plugged in he may not have got it plugged in. As far as the brake light fuse blowing I would disconnect both brake light connectors at the light and see if it still blows if it does disconnect 3rd brake light. If that does not take care of it I would see what does not work other than the brake light system.there is a control unit for the shift lock system but have never seen it fail and blow fuse.just start hear and repost findings
