stop behind accelerator pedal

ok, so i take out that plastic stop behind the accelerator, and there is a metal stop that it covers. what does this do? if i remove it, will it be ok? or will something f u c k up?

Why take it out? The throttle should be adjusted to reach WOT by that point. Your car won't be any faster by taking it out....
