Are QX4's ALMOST UN-STEALABLE? I never seem to read any news or MSN updates on MOST STOLEN VEHICLES!.

This makes me feel nice and warm inside if this car is Theft Proof!

Just wondering I guessMike

More likely that it isn't high on a thief's priority list. If a pro wanted it he could get it.

That, plus they're VERY rare.

Example - You never hear of a Q45 on the "most-jacked" list either. It's the law of percentages at work, my friend.

Thieves prefer, cars that are common enought to be easily parted out.

I don't think the QX4's are very easy to get into though. I locked my keys in my car a couple of times and both times the people who helped me unlock my car had a very hard time!

That's because they weren't thieves.

A buddy of mine does steering column repairs (theft recovery) for the insurance companies. I've seen him get into a new Lexus SUV, a new H2, and even my Q (on a challenge). Takes him NO time at all, and he's functionally illiterate (but GOOD at his job).

Like I said, it's a function of the numbers. QX4's are rare, there's not a lot of demand for their parts, and they don't frequent "rough" neighborhoods as a general rule. It doesn't make them ANY harder to steal than a Pathy or any other car.

Chevy pickups, Ford Tauruses, Honda Accords, Toyota Camrys, etc, - All are popular, therefore all need parts (and therefore drive the black market for stolen parts) and can be found in ALL areas of town, from the ghetto to the suburbs.

All replies are great!...Im just glad that there isn't a "MARKET" for stolen QX4 Parts!..I guess if they REALLY WANT IT then they can take it..

What about the KEY Chip thinggy? is that even functional?

Mike

Yep - Won't start without it.

That's why a replacement key costs so damn much.

p.s. My buddy here in Phx has a customized QX4 - I think I posted a pic of it in the QX4 forum a few months ago.
