I've been doing some research on Ca18 on the internet and found this website to be most helpful so i figured i might as well start an account.

My car was stolen last week, but i found it 4 days later, with the deck( go figure) and my SAFC. the car came with ca18det motor in it and the guy i bought it from plugged in the SAFC, which got stolen and now my car won't rev past 2000 rpm. Does anyone know where I can find the settings for a new piggy back system?

I would suggest to buy another SAFC. You can buy them used because people upgrade from them. The reason why your car wont rev past 2000 rpm is because the SAFC bridges the connection for the MAF singal wire. Without the SAFC the AMF signal is disconnected. Not sure what the SAFC was used for but you can reconnect the MAF signal wire near the ECU and that problem will go away. But be careful because the SAFC did do something that it will not be doing anymore. So your car could be dangerous to drive without (engine damage).

It wont solve the problem just removing the SAFC connection. if it was correcting (Say making a SOHC or Z32 maf) for a different maf then it will still not rev past 2k(limp mode). IF it was correcting injectors too...... welcome to more running issues.

time to get a SAFC, figure out which maf you have(code wise), and fire it up. I would add a wideband to make sure you are not running larger injectors(unless u know the sizing). This is worst case senerio and why most will not buy a previously modded car.

best of luck. We can help u out if need be.

If i remember correctly, it was an apexi safc select. but i was thinking of getting apexi safc neo instead. which would be better?

It WILL resolve the limp mode problem at least. SAFC can't correct for a KA SOHC MAF as far as MAF input and output goes. If he does have a z32 maf his car will run very lean.

suyher,

Once you figure out what MAF and injectors you have, go from there. If you have stock MAF and injectors then just reconnect the AFM signal wire to the ECU and have someone check it out with a wideband. If you have a different MAF or Injectors, I would just pay someone to tune it and burn a new rom for you. probably just as expensive as getting a new safc and if the tuner is any good it will probably run better than before.

hey, if you're lucky the SAFC was only there to maybe help w/ a turbo upgrade(t28 or so). than you could still probably run low-boost w/o it. but you would still need to hook up the MAF wire at your ecu.

when I installed a SAFC on my eagly talon back in the day, it had a connector for the MAF wire so you could easily switch it back to stock. I hope yours does to.

so i checked it out with a mechanic about my car and he said it might be the CAS, that it has no current. should cas seriously effect the car that much?
