Ok heres the story. I have a greddy intake manifold and have been running my autometer sensor on a fitting on my heater hose.

As I have been finishing redoing my interior, I will be running stainless lines w/ AN fittings from the block to the heater without any room for a fitting. I also have a PowerFC that is going in during this period of downtime so heres my Q.

Does the stock sensor on the manifold go to the ECU thus displaying my water temp on my FC? or does it just go to the stock coolant temp sensor on the dash? AKA- should I retap the manifold for an autometer sender or ditch the gauge all together cause the FC will display that info?

Not sure what engine you're talking about here, but there should be two sensors. One has a 2 wires and the other only has 1 wire going to it. The two wire is for the ecu, the one wire is for the dash.

the 1 wire sensor is for the gauge cluster as said above...however if you dont care if the stock gauge reads then yes by all means tap out that hole and fit your autometer sensor there.DO NOT REMOVE THE 2 WIRE SENSOR, you will have some interesting issues with the fc or even the stock ecu due to one of the load sensors not being there.

Thanks for the responses guys--- The car is a completely custom Datsun with a dash that only has autometers in it-- so there is no need for the OG sensor that goes to the stock cluster. That being said--- the autometer sender is smaller then the stock sender-- making it impossible to tap and fit in. Not to mention the actual sensor below the threading is thicker then the stock-- so you would have to drill out the manifold, and find some sort of 1/4" adapter to make the sensor fit, then run the wire. Way too much of a hassle.

I beleive the FC will show the temp off the stock sender, and I will have the autometer sensor in the heater hose just after it gets back from the radiator (after the oil cooler and turbo water lines etc.) So it will be cool to see the temp differences after the rad. Anyway Ill probably have some pictures up after its a wrap tomorrow. Thanks for the help again

Unfortunately I ran into issues on this one and the stock temp sensor is going to be wasted as a plug as the autometer sender just wont happen--- Unless you can use this sensor for the signal to the autometer--- which I am pretty sure you cant.

I think the autometer sender is 1/8 npt, I used a 1/8 npt (female) to 1/4 npt (male). And tapped out my stock to 1/4 npt. Slapped some tape on there and tightened just a bit, not too much or you will crack it!
