hi, im about to buy a boost controller but then i notices that this little thing that sits below the igniter is connected to the internal wastegate

So.. b4 anything.. just like to ask how this thing works and should it be removed if im getting a boost controller? If it is to be removed, do I cut the wires or....?

thanks in advance

Well the wastegate controller is important to the wastegate opening.

If you take the actuator off, you will have some major problems.

Are you asking if you should take the arm off the wastegate? or something else... because there shouldn't be any wires running to the wastegate, just a vacuum line.

Damn, let me try again..

Sorry Its not a wastegate controller.

I think its called the pressure regulator control solenoid valve that sits below the igniter.

Its the boost control soleniod, yes you can block it up/remove it.

IMO just buy a HKS adjustable wastgate NOT an EBC. Way cheaper and easier to install

But remember that the HKS is supposed to be used at no less than 11psi and really works better for 12psi and up. If that is what you wish to run, go for it.

I have never ran a boost control solenoid. No issue there.

An EBC is an awesome choice. You can more accurately manage max boost levels, keep the WG closed until you reach the deisred boost level making boost come on faster and you can run multiple boost maps. There is also the scramble feature that many come with now.

I however, run a MBC built from fittings from Home Depot, rivet tips, and a spring from a pen. Works great. Holds boost at 14 psi like a charm and builds boost fast. I am just cool like that.

yea i tried that, failed a bit, and never got around to making it work better lol. so basically i have the line from the turbo going to my wastegate. it builds 11psi very nice and holds it there no problem.

i see... but what does this solenoid do actually? does the ecu control it? if yes what kind of input makes the ecu to trigger the solenoid to open or close?

just get rid of it..i asked Dee (aka boostboy) awhile ago about it and he basically said its not needed and causes more of a headache trying to figure it out then its worth.

If i remember correctly it smoothes out the transition from little boost to max boost and vacuum to boost.
