Ive gotta 1993 Infiniti J30 base. It's gotta VG30DE engine and I was wondering if I could take the headers, manifolds, turbo components, and intake off a 300zx with a VG30DETT (both cars share the same engine) and bolt them directly onto my engine without any serious modifications or changes to the VG30DE engine??? Thanks in advance every one

The manifolds should bolt up, but I believe the oil filter and other parts have to be relocated to clear the turbos. Plus you have to worry about the internals; the vg30de has a 10.5:1 compression ratio whereas the vg30dett has a 8.5:1 ratio. Either you will have to do headwork and run bigger headgaskets or you will have to change the internals if you want the engine to run reliably on boost.

This might help some:

It might be easier to drop in a tt motor out of a 300zx instead of making a frankenstein out of the two engines. Places like

http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=2926

might be a good place to start.

Either way, good luck!

Move to a 5 speed tranismission conversion or pick up a beefed up automatic transmission from Level 10.

Yeah I was gonna do a 5spd manual conversion with the turbos. Will the VG30DETT engine go into my engine bay without any serious modification??? All the connections should be the same if Ive been informed correctly!??

first off like Jdurrty said, the compression is totally different and the oil pump on the NA is different from the TT

the oil pan is different

you will need to get TT ac lines or get some custom made (these will get in way of turbo piping on drivers side)

relocate battery (so you can route turbo piping down to bumper. if running dual smic it will be easier, and will need bracket made to hold the intercoolers)

relocate fuel filter and maybe PS reservoir (i personally would not trust fuel filter being that close to the hotside of the turbo and PS reservoir may get in way of turbo piping))

motor mounts modded (Zs have a 2 bolt setup)

will need a custom ecu, boost controller, run tubing and wires for gauges also

id go with the 5speed cause the RE401A J30 trans are only good for 260hp so it will die quick.

ive bene considering the project and have done my research. have a 600+ whp all day build in mind

Ok so basically I'd be dropping a whole new engine with around $6,000 cost and a couple days in the garage. If I decided not to go with the TT route aside from a cold air intake and exhaust overhaul is there any way I can jump the stock 205 HP to about 250 for a little more get up??? I mean I love the car I gotta 93 that was a one owner vehicle in the shop every 3 months for routine maintenance and only has 80,000 miles on it. But it's my every day driver. At some point mid to late 2011 I'm gonna be selling it. So I'm thinking now while it's an awesome thought to push 500+ HP out of the car the time and money factor isn't really gonna be enjoyable for me. Swimshark your cars looking good and I wish you the best of luck keep me posted on your work my e mail is [email protected]

yah a 500+whp build is gonna run you $10k easily. the stock VG30DETT block is good for about 450whp all day long and an occasional 600+whp fun. if you get a built block you can then run 500-650whp range all the time and not worry about it but a built block is gonna start around $3500 alone.

the build i put together and im saving to do in the future is

Stage 2 block from z1
GT675RS (2xGT28) turbo kit
AMS high flow exhaust manifolds
740cc injectors
300 degree fuel rail
Selin dual MAF device
Dual Z1 SMIC
3" split downpipes and 3" exhaust

Extra mods if not done will be:
5 spd swap
TT clutch and flywheel combo
AC line re-route
Fittings placed on J30 oil pan and bolted to TT block
Oil filter relocation
Battery relocation
Fuel filter relocation
PS reservoir relocation
Carbon cannister delete

Then to up the braking system id go with Akebono 14" brake system with the 370Z brake calipers
and get some wide maybe 18x9 front wheels and 18x10 rear

Total is looking about $15k for a 600+whp car than will handle well and brake efficiently with all that power behind it.

Mind you you can do a stock setup for about $4k-$5k if you know what your doing.

Swimshark could you email me I have a few questions for you and I don't want to threadjack anymore then I already am. Email is [email protected] questions are about swaping in the vg30dett.

OP in some things that I have read I'm understanding it's easier to swap in the tt motor then to convert the motor to tt from n/a. I'll see if I an pull up the info on things I've read.

yah there are a few 300zx guys that have TT a NA block but you can only run 10psi MAX and one guy got 450rwhp with a crazy tune, but your chances of failure on the motor are higher with the high compression. i would not even drive it til i take it to a place that knows what they are doing to tune it to the max and with most care cause you could easily detonate and there goes your motor.
