While I am not specifically familiar with the internal design of a water and oil cooled garrett T25 center section, I would assume that since the coolent is a secondary heat extractor and isnt used for any sort of lubrication, it is not absolutly nessecary to keep the coolent lines attached to the turbo. You run a risk of shortening the life of the bearings in the turbo by doing so.

Didn't have it hooked up in my first car for 4 yrs. Never had a problem.

It's possible, but why? I don't think oil alone is enough to cool that center section. I'd say without the coolant there, that turbo with the amount of heat it's dealing with, will destroy your oil very quickly and cause other complications. If you want to do what S13240 says... well, good luck to ya.

You can do it. We do it with alot of our vehicles, but keep in mind that you'll shorten the turbo life by more than half do to the extra heat breaking down the oil that lubricates the turbo.

^I've never seen any proof of that. Plenty of people run with no coolant line but he better have a turbo timer.

Would you rather believe some one that has actually tried it and works or would you believe someone with a theory?

If four years doesn't tell you anything then I don't know what would. But it's your turbo so do whatever you want to do. Just my personal experience with no issues whatsoever.

Why do many people run only oil lines to their aftermarket turbos(t3/t4, t3/t04, t4, etc etc) and not one says a word about it being bad? And an aftermarket turbo is three times more expensive than a stock turbo...solve that riddle?

those turbos you're talking about are center sections designed for only oil lubrication, hence, no coolant lines built in. But i think that if you buy a turbo w/ coolant/oil center section, use them, if you're not going to use it, then don't buy it.
