next spring i plan on building my KA24 extensively because i will buy a different Daily driver and am keeping the 240 as my build car.....my question is....what hp level will the stock transmission hold?? i plan on over 500whp and i dont think the stock 5spd transmission will hold that....ive seen people using the c4 and z32 transmission's...how hard of an upgrade would taht be??

I'd also like to know that. Although I'm interested in auto transmission (for drag racing)

How much power it will hold will depend on how you treat it more than anything else. If it is just babied around and not launched hard often, should be able to hold a lot of power. But if you are launching hard, drag racing, etc, it is more than likely going to break. SO, it's hard to put an exact number on how much power it will hold.

Here is what you need: http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14631

If stock 300ZX puts out 280HP and transmission is happy with it in 3600lbs car, I would hope it would hold 300whp in 2900lbs car... Anyway, what are highest HP/lowest ET achieved on autoboxes?

Why the rolleyes? If that statement is incorrect, then what is the true highest BHP/Torque that is sustainable on a daily driver? (Without abusing it, of course)

I'm pretty sure the internals of the transmission will withstand quite a bit of power, it's other things such as the clutch, input shaft and such that's going to go out first..

KA trannys are easy to come by, and pretty cheap. I wouldn't even worry about it until you've acually destroyed one yourself in your own car.

Because I make more power than that on a stock transmission...daily driven.. And I have for quite a while now.

And I went to the INTMO meets until I left...so there's your abuse variable.

Not every transmission breaks at the same power level... But 350whp is not enough to break one unless you are trying to break it.

GREAT!

All my projects revolve around the KA transmission, so reliability is somewhat important for my HP/Torque goals.

I didn't know you were in Gainesville. That's my hometown. My grandma lives off of Archer Rd. I should get in touch with you the next time Im in town (just left there about 3 weeks ago).

Do you have an auto too? (based on your dyno vid) Nice car btw.

Yea, thats my hometown. Unfortunately, I'm stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois right now..

Nope, I have a 5 spd..

Stop by one of the intmo meets. There are a couple KA-Ts out there these days.
