Car: Nissan Rogue SL AWD with leather and tech package - black

Post

I just bought a 2009 Rogue SL AWD (black) yesterday and am taking delivery today after work. Can't wait!

I'm looking to replace the stock all seasons with better tires. Any recommendations? These would be for May-October driving, as I will be getting winter tires when the time comes.

I had Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread on my XTrail. They were great in rain but always noisy and rough. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have the goodyear triple tred on my 08 sl awd, not as quiet as the stocks but amazing traction in bad weather.

Just replaced yesterday all 4 with toyo entensa a/s same size as original. Can't really tell the difference yet because driving for one day but it is definitely better traction since continental were bold on front and was ok in the back at 30k miles.

I've had my Yokohama AVID TRZ tires for about 10 months... I work out of my Rogue and put quite a few miles on it daily. These tires are smoth, quiet and to date have no signs of tred wear... Great Tires!

I was looking through the discount tires site and found two tires I'm interested in. The Michelin Latitude Tour HP and the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. When getting a quote for the total price, there is an option for a TPMS rebuild kit. Is this a necessary option? How would I even know if they use the correct parts?

Yes, you absolutely need a TPMS rebuild kit. The seals are not reusable and must be replaced everytime the TPMS sensor is removed/serviced.

Schrader-Bridgeport makes the TPMS sensors for Nissan. It should be very easy to verify the correct parts are used. Just ask for 'proof' once the TPMS sensors are re-installed.

Is this kit referring to the nut that holds the valve in place? I plan on using the stock 16" steel for a set a dedicated winter tires. Any advice on what I should be looking for in regards to the TPMS sensor?

I am sorry to sound stupid but I want to go to Costco to but tires for my 08 Rogue. I am ordering the V rated Lattitude Tour HP. Do you need a rebuild kit every time you buy new tires. Most tire shops position the tire in a way where they do not even remove the tpms off the rim. And those who do never mentioned a rebuild kit of any kind.

Both Schrader Bridgeport's website and the Rogue Service Manual both recommend replacing the grommet/seal, retaining nut, and valve core anytime the TPMS sensor is removed.

If your shop can safely remove the tire without affecting/damaging the TPMS sensor, then there is no need to replace all the seals.

Personally however, I think it's cheap insurance to service the TPMS sensor and replace the seals at the same time. The shop installs a new (regular) tire valve anytime tires are replaced... why not replace the TPMS seals in the same manner?

hey let us know what you think of the Latitudes. reviews seem mixed but they have to be better than the stock Contis.

I have an 08 Rogue SL with the stock Contis. Presently, I have 25K miles and counting maybe another 5K or more miles left on the Contis. Other than a short tire life, the Contis are a OK tire. Not too noisy, handles curves and rain OK and overall would consider again (except tire life). My last vehicle was a 2001 Acura Integra GSR. I had separate wheels and tires for winter and summer. Michelin ICE and Michelin high performance summer tires. Neither of the Michelin tires have a long life but were great. I too am considering the Goodyear as replacement tires for my Rogue but would not give up replacing the contis without using them up. I live and travel where roads are rural, curvy and sometime mountainous, so wimpy tires would not do. My suggestion would be to give the original tire a chance and switch when gone. I have not traveled in snow. If I did, I would get the ICE tires again, but oh they are noisy.

I bought the ICE-2 last winter and they are really quiet, quieter than the contis.I chose them because the reviews said they are the quietest winter tires available. My wife has the Blizzak from Bridgestone, and even if they seem better in fresh snow (but her car/tank is at least 1000lb heavier than the Rogue), they make slightly more noise on dry pavement than the ICE-2.

I've ordered the Michelin Latitude Tours from Discount Tire. Since they aren't an In-Stock item they've been ordered and I should hear back from them by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. The OEM Contis have 37k on them and they seem like they have a lot of tread left. I haven't measured the depth of the tread but the wear bars are just about flush with the tread. They've gotten a little noisier but I don't want to deal with them for third wet an possibly snowy winter. I've looked at the tires on my parents rental Mazda and there is quite a bit less tread on their tires than mine but the wear bars aren't noticeable. Has anybody else noticed that the wear bars seem to be pretty high on the Contis?

I do not actually know if the wear bars are higher but they are very noticable and seen to pop out. I have also chosen to replace my Conti's with Latitude tour hp tires next month. It is V rated and like the Conti's it is a light truck tire not a passenger car tire. It is also written up on tire rack as very good in the snow.

Got the Michelin Latitude Tour HPs installed last week. they handle well and seem to be quieter than the OEM Contis. They look to have a little bit wider footprint than the OEM Contis. I did have to go back in and have them re-balanced a couple days after the install. ugh.
