C-Rad has that setup, not sure what his temps are but for me stock radiator I see 182-6*F normal driving and 194*F when WOT boosting.

temps are the same. A thermostat dictates the engine temp, not the radiator. The radiator just gives you more capacity and longer cycles between when the t-stat opens.

In all honesty, I don't understand the appeal of the Koyo. I mean, it's kinda bling, but I'm a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" kinda guy. I've put 18psi on a GT28R to the CA on a new stock, single core, radiator, and I have never had cooling issues. Plus the stocker flows way more air through it.

my koyo + JDM auto / EDM oil cooler (oil to water heat exchanger) = overcooled oil, and I have to do oil changes every 2000-2500 miles

haven't got around to ditching it yet, cause I'll have to drain both fluids.. and I haven't anyplace convenient to work on it for such messy tasks

Koyo KA R1276, 26 row B&M oil cooler, radiator air deflector panel, Nismo 1.3bar cap, and 16" 3000cfm Zirgo e-fan and I never get temps over whatever I set my fan at. Even in summer @ 14psi.

I'm cochino's friend and the thing we are confused with is that his HKS water temp gauge reads 60 degrees celsius when it's fully warmed. We have a hose/sensor adapter in the bottom hose because that one doesn't go to the thermostat. Should it be on the upper hose instead? I assumed it's like my SR where the thermostat is on the cold side so that's why we put it down there.

Is his gauge messed up or did we put it on the wrong hose?

You can't put it in EITHER hose and get an accurate reading when it's warming up. The only time coolant flows through either hose is after the thermo starts to open. Putting it in the bottom hose is worse than the top hose because that hose ONLY see's cooled coolant that has already passed through the radiator.

Remove the thermostat housing, remove the thermostat, and drill and tap a hole in the intake manifold where the stock sender and ECU sensor are at. There is plenty of room there. Stuff a rag in there when you're drilling and tapping to make it easer to clean out the shavings when you're done.

Flybert:The sensor goes in the upper hose. The water pump pulls in from the radiator, so you are getting your signal from the cooled water, not the hot water comming out of the motor like the stock sensor.

You might want to run a ground from the sensor housing to the chassis. I would get readings around 130*F when my car was a full hot in summer with a 195* thermostat and no cooling mods. After my ground, it became totally accurate.

Cochino's going to be driving in a track event this weekend so we wanted to get this all sorted out by then. Thanks for the help.

When I first installed mine, I did it in the lower rad hose. I felt really sheepish when I had to go to buy a new lower rad hose (for like $17) because of my goof.

Make sure and post up pics/results from the track day!
