stock temp gauge.....woefully inadequate

Recently I decided to install an aftermarket numerical water temp gauge to see if I could get a number bearing on what out stock gauges actually read. To my horror, my gauge let temps of 150 degrees to roughly 210degrees fahrenheit sit in almost the exact same spot. Just above the middlemost mark on the gauge. I swapped coolant temp sensors for a new Nissan one, same results. Changed aftermarket temp gauge and sending unit, same result. It appears our stock water temp gauge is woefully inadequate...........

PS: My car now sits between 150 and 170 on all occassions, even in 95 degree weather, in traffic, with the AC on. One 16-inch Hayden electric fan running constantly, no shroud, etc.
