I bought some xxr 962 because they were cheap. And the 18x9.5 +35 fit on the back, However the 18x8.5's do not fit on the front they have 225's in the front and I have about 2mm clearance between the tire and strut. My question is what kind of spacer width am I going to be looking at to get the clearance? I would like hub centric so I can avoid changing the studs. Is a +20 to much or not enough? My fitment knowledge is not the best as of now as this is the first set of shoes I have bought for my car any help would be awesome.

If you need spacers at all, it will be very small ones. I'm talking about 2-3mm. Broadfield used to run 18x8.5+32's with 245/40 tires and no spacers and he's lowered on coilovers.

Do a test fit and go from there. But I don't think you'll need any on your stock suspension.

Hmm my car has Hicas not sure if this make any difference but. With the wheels on the front it really seemed as if the it needed to be moved out quite a ways form the bottom coil on the strut? I am just apprehensive to drop a cash on hubcentric spacers only to find out I screwed up.

Make sure tire pressure is up good and there will be little to no roll in the tire around turns.

That would be your main problem if you have clearance..

I have very little clearance, and the tires rubbed the strut during turns since it had 15 psi in it , lol... I filled it up to 40psi and no more issues..
