I just bought a set of coilovers, and I was wondering how my stock shocks and struts will work with them. Alot of people tell me they will be fine, but some also say they will blow out really soon.My car has fairly little mileage on it, and I never do stupid things to bag the suspension (like drifting).

Yo ninjak my opinion even tho i don't got the coilovers is that you'll need new ones cause they'll blow out in around 1-2 months but either way let me know cause I'm thinking of getting the TM comp ones from AutoZeal.

simple: 2 inch drop or less they will be ok (if liek you said they dont have much mileage on them) 2 inch or more you need some more performance oriented strut.

Well, that sounds perfect, because I'm only really looking for a 1.5-2.0" drop anyways.I have money for Tokico's just in case though.

Mike: I bought mine today, they're going to be sitting in my room for a while though, b/c I don't have time for the install yet. Since I'm not driving, it doesn't make a difference anyways.

How low can you drop the TM Comp coilovers. Something like 3" or so.

Before you drop your car 3 inches, read the various threads we've had on that subject. I don't want another debate about why someone's car handles like *** and blows struts left and right.

Actually I think it might be 4", but I'm not sure....I don't think I'll ever go below 2" anyways.

I installed tokico blues on my 90 s13 about 7 months ago and the rear struts blew a couple days ago. From what i've read on this website's forum, the blues tend to blow easily.....

Blues are crap... yellows are a little better. I dont understand why people dont buy adjustables... they allow so much more ability to fine tuning the car. Why buy a boost gauge that is set to one setting?

i1ice4m3: what kinda coil over or spring you have on w/ your tokico struts, how much of a drop do you have?

I have intrax springs on the tokicos and its a 1.75in drop i believe. the springs came w/ the car. Had i known any better back then i would have gotten eibachs. I have a hideous wheel gap right now, with 45 profile tires on 16s. i thought 45s were perfect on 16s. Anyway i'm thinkin the springs might have something to do w/ the struts blowing so quickly. I heard intrax is crap. What do you guys think?

whoa, first off i just wanted to apologise i2ice4m3 b/c i asked you what springs you had in a nother section too, so just disregard that. but i used to have intrax springs and they were great, your tokico's def. should not be blowing w/ those springs, So there is either a problem w/ the springs or maybe some installation mistake. But there is no way those tokicos would blow if there is no problem w/ any other suspension parts, when i replaced my intrax springs and "stock struts", my stock struts still had life in them!

Hang on now, what was that rule of thumb, less than 2" of drop doesn't require new struts. Would that make TEIN S-Tech springs safe on my 92 240SX with 180K on stock suspension?(Sorry to drag on your post here, but it saves us all having to have another similar post)

Have I got a story for you. I just purchased and installed Tanabe GF210's on my 95 240sx with the factory struts and shocks...The next day both of my rear shocks blew out...talk about a bouncy ride. The front end drop is around 1.5" and the rear drop is like 1"...My shocks blew...What gives. I was thinking about kyb agx's. I like autocrossing but I'm not sure how they'll hold up... Any suggestions ??
