stock sohc wont idle, has a mind of its own, HELP!

stock sohc wont idle, has a mind of its own, HELP!
so i finally got my car in driveable shape, but when i start it up it will rev upto about 3k then drop to 1.2k then back upto 3k then back down etc. it will do this like 5-6 times then idle around 2500rpm. is it in safemode? sensor messed up? help

Coolant temp sensor can cause the ramp up but it will stay up. Could be an injector issue or maf issue. Does it have a CEL?

Yea bro check injectors and spray some MAF cleaner on your MAF. I had to go through hell and back to get mine running.
If that doesnt work then chec plugs and mess with your idle s*** on the side on the intake manifold.
