Hey guys - Just finalized everything with the S14 SR for my 97, and I figured while it was on my mind I would ask really quick a few questions.

Firstly, How does the SMIC mount in the USDM front bumper fit? Pictures would be great.

Secondly, what about stock piping? Will there be cutting involved? Its no biggie but I'd just like to know what will need to be done so I can go ahead and do it while old KA is out

Luckily I have a great g/f that will be willing to help clean out the engine bay, etc.

But any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

CRyan

Yeah, that's where it bolted up on my S13 so yours should be similiar. The only thing I had to mod was the stock intercooler ducting. I had to shave about an inch off because I had the non-turbo bumper which doesn't protrude out quite as far as the turbo bumper. Looking at how far the bumper on the lower portion of the USDM bumper goes out you shouldn't have any fitment problems with the ducting if you choose to use it.

That's odd. When I was using the SMIC with the stock ducting I didn't have any problem at all with fitment. That was while using the correct mounting tabs and everything.

On the S13 there is an indention where the stock SMIC piping runs through. I'm not sure if the S14 is like that or not. Unless you have a hole saw, you can draw out where the hole needs to be and drill several small holes along the outline. You should then be able to use a mallet and punch through it.

You need to take use something around your new hole so you don't end up with a hole in your piping. I ended up taking a piece of hose, cutting a slit along it and placing it around the edge of the hole. Hope that makes sense.

That's exactly what I did too on the hole drilling and lining. As far as the ducting went, everything fit and lined up where it was supposed to. Only I had to remove the vented cover off the lower section of the non-turbo bumper because the intercooler ducting was protruding out so in order to make it look stock I shaved a inch off the ducting allowing me to put that vent cover back on.
