Car in question: 1992 240SX SE - bone stockLooking at going to a 17" wheel (Specifically the ASA JH8)I know I can fit the 215/45/17 on the front, at least that's what Tire Rack says, would I be able to fit a 255/40/17 in the rear?dIt's only 1/4" taller overall, but it is about 1" wider. Will I have rubbing issues? Thanks for any and all input.

I assume youre looking at the 17x7.5" wheels. I'm not sure what the offset is. That will determine how far they stick out of the fenders.

My first suggestion is to find a slight wider wheel. Personally, 8" is narrowest wheel I'd chose, unless I'm getting some OEM wheels for cheap. But if youre comfortable with these, go for it.

A 255 tire is very wide for a 17x7.5 wheel. Maybe 215/45 all around would be better.

Hopefully the guys with more experience can comment. But seriously consider a wider wheel. These may look good on a Honda, but your S13 deserves something wider.

255 is fairly difficult to fit in a stock s13's front. you'll have to work for it. the rear is ok. i'd put it on a 9j wheel though at the minimum. probably a 10j though. it'll stick out on a 9 and bebad for fender rubbing issues.theres no point in oversizing a tire fitment. you'll just look retarded like a truck. if you want wider tires then get a wider wheel.

TireRacks sizing is written by lawyers for old people.

a 255 street tire on a 7.5J Rim is gonna feel like *******.

Theres a whole bunch of suggestions that everyone could make... but you're not really giving a good starting point.

So if I did a 7.5" wide front wheel and a 9" wide rear wheel, the 255's in the rear should fit?I do like a little bit of round on my sidewall to help protect the wheels from an occational scuff on a curb or something. What kind of backspacing should I get? Will I have to do any fender rolling?I've seen some sites that recommend a 225/45/17 to match the 255/40/17 for tire height. Thoughts on that?

Thanks again!Todd
