My old rotors a bit rusted and need replacement.

I dont want drilled, slotted, etc. i dont drive or brake at speeds above 90-100mph, so theres no need for hot gasses to escape

240sx is not a supercar, and i wont be hitting any speeds higher than 115 anyways. Brembo blanks is the perfect option for 240sx i say.

now i can get these:http://www.importrp.com/catalo...id=11

or i can simply buy stock replacement part from advance auto parts for $25 each.

What is the difference of brembo blanks vs regular stock??

went to brembo's official site and i pulled this:http://www.brembo.com/ENG/Mark...C.htm

the question here, should be, are those brembo blanks high carbon cast iron metarial??

my current brake pads are biting into my rotors, so i need some different material on my rotors, stronger obvously.

what do you all recommend??

p.s. this has been discussed before a bit, but i couldn't even find it.

There will not be a lot of difference between the brembos and stock. I would buy the stockies and spend the extra cash on quality pads. You'll get more for your money that way. What kind of pads are you running that they are biting into your rotors?

alright... you dont replace rotors when they are rusted. you can use a micrometer to measure the thickness of the rotor but i usually just eyeball it. rotors rust all the time, if you dont want it to rust get it coated usually people zinc it.

i suggest oem you know oem will last really long without warping problems with typical daily driven.

brembo rotors have been known to warp and i'm not sure if they are balanced even if i assume they are there still have been many stories about them warping. it may be the pad compound they choose, driving habits or the rotors i don't know for sure but oems last long and if you aren't going to do lots of constant braking at high speeds then oem is more than sufficient and it's cheap.

what pads are you using? maybe it's the pads problem.

I have to look it up. its from advance auto parts. some sports pads for $45.

well i guess i'm going to grab another set of pads in a month or two from advance auto parts again. + rotors.

really wonder if those brembo's for 240sx is a high carbon cast iron.

Well, when I went into Napa and asked the same question when I completly overhauled my brakes (new rotors, pads, lines, calipers rebuilt, new OEM MC) the guy behind the counter told me NOT to buy the replacement ones that they sold if I could afford the Brembo. He let me know that the ones that they sold were very cheaply made and he said he sees them come back all the time from cars that run aggressive pads (I only run Axxis MM, but still) or really use their brakes (SCCA etc). I paid the extra and got the Brembo all around.

Alright, here is my answer. in fact i was going to make this EXACT thread two weeks ago. i just did new rotors, calipers, and pads. here is how i did it:I decided to go with the brembo blanks because they are not alot more than the advanced auto oem's. they seem to be higher quality, and i chose these because i knew i didnt NEED slotted or drilled, but i also knew i wanted to run EXTREAMLY agressive high performance pads. I went onto tire rack and got the satisfied gran sport 6 pads all around. My calipers unfortunatly are new oem's.

I just finished the break in period brembo gives you. my pads seated perfectly and i see no wear on my rotors in the 400 miles i have gone. my breaks are extreamly smooth and responsive.

Sorry for the long post, but do what i did, you will be happy!! (next is stainless steel lines)

Yeah tirerack is a good place to buy them from. There are many sites that sell them though...I think a google search would do the trick if tirerack didn't suit you for some reason. I use the HP Plus and think they're great.
