Now, I have seen some nice rims on some Altimas here, so, I can see WHY you can upgrade. I actually like my stock Alloys, only problem is they are 16's. I want them a little bigger I guess. I actually want some of the 09 SE 18inch wheels, I love the style, and think they look great on the coupe. Just wondering why, I guess, when you have nice rims that came on your SE, why sepnd the money if you do not have to? Are 18's not big enough? Is it like me...16's are too small and some folks want 19-20's? All personal preference I guess. Do aftermarket wheels have Any advantages over stock wheels? Other than steelies of course. Thats obvious.

I have an 09 coupe, which, of course, comes with the 18" rims. Would I change? Not likely because I like the look on my car. But wheels are a very personal preference, and many people want to personalize their car. Aftermarket wheels allow for that. Most aftermarket wheels (but not all!) are also lighter than the stock rims which is a good thing. I think most wheel upgrades (if you already have 18s) are done for individual, esthetic reasons. Nothing wrong with making a personal statement.

Myself, and I'll be open to flames here... 19" rims are not worth doing because the tires are overpriced for that rim size... and 20" rims require tires with an ultra-low profile which leaves you open to rim damage unless you only drive on smooth roads. I also think 20" rims make the AC look like it has 'baby-carriage' tires on it... it just isn't my style... I like to see some sidewall on my tires - then again, I'm an old guy so file my thoughts appropriately!

Yeah bravery, I saw that and got excited, rims only were like 550, plus shipping. There was one auction with tires mounted too that were dealer take offs for 1100. I know my local Nissan dealer is selling these rims, rim only for $620 each!!! $2480 for 4 rims only!! I am gonna keep my eyes open and start saving probably take me 2 months to get the money together...you got some stock SE 18's you want to get rid of?

And yeah, Ferguson, I totally agree with you on the rim size thing, I really think 18's are enough. When I had my 2000 Altima SE sedan, I had 17's on it and I thought I was the s***, lol...and I am 42 BTW, not to old yet, and Ferg, 55 is not old dood!

When I wanted aftermarket rims I wanted two things. 1) better grip on the road! stocks at 8inch wide was ok, but just by the 8.5inch wide, it was the world of difference. thats 2 more inches of tire on the road. 2) They look awesome. I have 19x8.5 and my ride quality has not changed at all. The trick with getting aftermarket tires to is getting ones that are light. I dont know the stock wheel/tire weight but aftermarket's that weigh less are a lot better. (IMO)

No harm, no foul! All car guys get old eventually! You'll be where I am someday too. And... it just doesn't matter. We love the cars we have, and the things we do to them. It's all good!

Wheels, these days, are very expensive. I might be inclined to wait for the economy to stabilize. If you haven't noticed, a lot of stuff has gotten rather expensive... personally, I'd wait until the economy settles down a bit, but then again, that's an old guy talking...

Your tire compound has more to do with the grip on the road than the width of your tires. You may have gone wider with better dry traction, but you could be doing so at the risk of losing wet traction.

+1 Fergie!

I personally wanted a bare bone 09 Altima coupe. So I got those really bad 16" hubcaps on the Altima that was my main reason of changing my rims to aftermarket. Dealers price is a rip off for stock 18s I spend $900 on my k5s with mounted tires and balance. I decided to go bare bone just to save the money and do my own upgrades (speakers, amps, subs, etc) It's your personal preference

J/K Buying tires for 19" does suck. But I like the look, and the ride is great.

If I hadnt gotten my wheels so cheap, I'm not sure that I would have upgraded to 19". probably just 18".(I have an 08 so stock size was 17")

Yeah, thats why I was kinda looking at 18's, they are much cheaper...but, alas, Ido not think I can afford wheels, maybe I'll go to rent a wheel What do they do if you don't pay? Do you get a complimentary set of cynder blocks when they re-po your wheels/tires?

Yes they do! I watched in amazement as this at my old job got his rims repod. They left his car sitting on 4 cinder blocks... Oddly I didn't see him at the job a few week after that. Oh well I watched those guys take their wheels back in less than 10 minutes.

And, I went out to a local perf./tire/wheel shop, they said they would sell me pretty much any set of 20's with Falken tires for $1450 installed, mounted, balanced, TPMS transferred from current wheels, new lugs and valve stems etc. Plus tax too I hate taxes!

I was looking at some 20inch Momo's and some BOSS 20's. SInce I have a white coupe, I was thinking some black rims with machined lips,
