This is off topic, I have split as a separate post.

None of the stock wheels came polished (ie. polished aluminum or chromed). They are all painted metallic silver... the S model has plastic wheel covers painted metallic silver, the wheel itself is black.

I looked into this as well, and I think it would've been only a tad more money for a whole new set of wheels. I decided if I do swap out the wheels on my Rogue, I'll just buy all new wheels altogether. I think when I priced it out, it was only $100-200 less to have them powdercoated. I decided I'd rather have new wheels that come from the factory with a black/gunmetal finish that I know I'm not gonna have chipping issues with like I might with powdercoating. Also, I can keep the stock wheels for my winter tires.Powdercoating for the stock SL wheels is going to be more expensive than most since they're painted and all. They have to be sanded down and prepped first for it to be done right.

Nick 568,

I priced repainting/refinishing wheels as well. By the time you factor in the costs of stripping, prepping, and painting it's very expensive. Figure $200 or more per wheel. A new set of wheels can be had for only slightly more.

If you do decide to repaint, I would carefully investigate the company providing the service. Aluminum can be easily damaged during stripping process. The company should specialize in wheel repair and repainting. I would also ask for some referrals.

As for powdercoating, I find it tends to give a different appearance than paint. Depending on the process and materials used, it can be very durable. Once again, you have to be careful about stripping and prepping the wheels.

BTW, Nissan specifically warns against chroming of the stock wheels. I would personally not buy aftermarket 'chromed' versions of the factory wheels. Read this tech bulletin for more info: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Ro...c.pdf

Yes phillipa. I read this long time ago about chroming the oem wheels: zerothread?id=347141Also I found an email from this ebay seller that was chroming the rims:We have been doing this for 6 years and have never heard of a wheel being damaged by chrome plating. We chrome these wheels for dealerships on a daily basis and have not had any problems. These are Factory Nissan Rogue wheels that we have chrome plated.ThanksO.E. Wheel(818) 807-3591Now I can't find him on ebay anymore as well as the picture seems to be gone too. Probably people had problems with chromed oem wheels.
