I have searched "radio", "replace radio" and several other versions of the search keyword but as of now I have not been able to find much info for what I want to know. Please, if this is asking a question that has already been answered just show me the link and try not too be too critical.

So I have a full stock radio and audio system. All the speakers sound fine and all the radio functions work properly. Problem has to do with the connection. left on it's own it only plays out of the front right speakers. If you press the unit in and hold it, pressing firmly in several different places on the face of the unit, you can get the connection to work and hear music out of all the speakers.

So what can I do to get sound out of all the speakers without holding and pressing the unit?

Sounds like a connection problem, had the same thing happen to a 94 Isuzu trooper that i could never got fixed. Can it easily be fixed? Best Buy wants $80 an hour to diagnose...really don't want to pay that.

Do I have to replace whole head unit? If so can anyone make any recommendations, should I switch to single din and convert or replace with a double din. If looking for a new head unit are there any specifics I MUST have in order for it to work with my 98 qx4?

check first two small buttons on the right side for bass and treble pull then out and check balance right/left and fade front ./rear see if it any changes.

if not replacemenet will be any good double din system with lcd touch screen ,mp3,gps,dvd,cd,ipod ,rear camera optional, connection. you can buy at best buy or on the net at very good price.

could also be your factory harness/wiring going to the head unit. pull it out and inspect the harness plugs and wiring.
