i wanna take a guess here but it has to be in the 17-18 sec range. DOHC's ('91 and up for the SE model) have 1/4 times at low 16's (manual), so go figure. Umm, fyi SOHC's have 15hp less than DOHC's. Try using the seach button next time.

I dont get this because I have a bone stock 240 with K&N cone filter(ohh...ahh), and I run a consistant 15.3-15.4 my best is a 15.1 with my friend in the car. It is 92' base model 5 spd. When I say base model I mean base model. No power nothin no spoiler, not a thing. And I know there is no other mods because it was owned by some old guy in his 90s before me. I am the 3rd owner. I run 91 octane at all times plus I take really good care of it. Right now it has 120,000 miles on it.

yea, I was pushing hard to get 15.001 on my KA in a '93 w. LSD, UR pulley, HS header, N-1, Crane ignition, and an ACT clutch.

2 of my freinds had SOHC motors and they were both faster or as fast as my modified DOHC. I honestly think the SOHC is a better and faster motor for NA HP.

I know an automatic S13 with the 'shift mod' that chirps the tires when it shifts runs constant 19.00's (that's what Heather got anyhow).

All motor auto sucks..... My best time is a 15.7 flat that I hit a few times now, about 5. Id easilly be 15.0 high 14.s with a 5 speed. Its that damn consistent 2.4 0-60 that kills me, well in addition to the parasitic loss of the transmission and extra weight.

I could pull low 15's with a simple good launch, let alone the other factors....

you also have to remember that the base models are probably 100lbs lighter than the SE's.

Which relates to a theoretical tenth in the quarter.

There is no way you're runnin' low 15's with your SOHC. I drive a 95 SE and I run low 16's. Granted It's all stock but she's only got like 30,000 miles on it and it's mint. I don't think that's it's possible for your K&N to be helping you run these low times and if you reallly are runnning these low times you should post the slip. Show some proof, otherwise don't make things up.

i say it is possible i remember back about 1-2 years ago first time the guy ran a 1/4 he had a time slip for 15.3 stock on a 91-93. the guys had lots of 1/8th mile practice, decent tires(not great) i think he was a base model, and i have noticed alot of variances in the 240s i have driven even same year/ apx. same milage. it seems unlikely that 15.1 was run with a kn and a passenger buts i won't say absolutely not.Bryce

just to add my 2 cents in my oponions. I use to have a 1997 Ford Escort LX (not a ZX2) that i dragged at the local track. The factory drivers say that my car should be doing a 1/4 mile in about 18.1 seconds, but i sayed no and dragged against a lot of cars. One of which being a ZX2, which i beat (i bet he was a little upset :) ), and i dragged against a truck that was running with a 17.1 time slip and beat him easily, a couple of times. I never actualy got a time slip, but figuring the car was doing around a 16.3 or so 1/4 mile. So with that said, the best way to describe why the big differences in times is the the boss must have been looking over the workers shoulder when they put that one together!! hahaha, but seriously, every car is tuned ever so slightly different.

Whew, sorry about the overly long post, but i was given a lot of crap when i first said that i was doing 15.9-16.3 sec. runs, so I feel all ya that have been given crap!

peace

I have a '93 240 5 spd.and the only thing i have close is an 1/8th strip. I only ran it about 5 times and the best I got was 10.6. I had just got the car and had it about a week so I was as familiar with it as I am now.... if only the track were open... in a couple weeks I should have some more times.
