Tonight I will be putting a Greddy Oil pan (+1 qt), oil filter relocation kit, and oil cooler (with large filter estimate +2qts). So if I put in about 4 already, Im looking at 7quarts of oil that will be availible to the turbo and the motor. Now I know that its better to have more oil because there is more oil to break down which is safer for the motor. However, I have some concern about the stock SR oil pump and its ability to pump all that oil through the extra lines, cooler, and larger filter, without loosing pressure through the rest of the system. Is it capable? or am I asking for trouble unless I throw in an inline oil sump of some kind to suppliment the lack of pressure?

I know alot of people that run remote oil filter + oil cooler and they do not seem to have oil issues. I think the bigger concern here is leaks... There are so many potentials for oil leaks with remote oil filter mounting and oil coolers so keep your eyes on that.

It is not true that more oil = better. Too much oil can act as fluid "damper" when the crank is spinning hence robbing some power. Im talking like alot above the recommended oil fil line. Im sure the capacity to reach that line will increase with a cooler and bigger filter, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I know this post may sound paranoid but I just want to give this thing the best chance to live a long life. I'm hoping this oil system upgrade will help and not hurt anything. It’s inspired me to take things a little slower, and make the best attempt at doing things the right way the first time. Instead of doing the oil pan and filter relocation kit/cooler last night I went out and got some really good oil pressure and temperature gauges, and started making a place to mount them below my stereo out of sheet metal. I will let those gauges be my guide to what’s really going on with my oil system; instead of guessing.
