ok I dont know if this is the right section to put this in but who cares. anyways I was at nissans site and was looking at all the stock hp numbers for there engines. Can someone give me a general idea of why some of the same size engine have more hp than others? like why does the se-r have 165 hp but the spec-v se-r have 10 more? and why does the 350z vq35** have 287hp and the same engine is also used in the maxima and has 20 less and the altima 3.5 has 20 less than the maxima? what is the difference in the enignes? And whjy wouldnt nissan give the same amount of hp to all the engines of the same size

different compressions, different intake, different heads and other changes, sometimes they do it for economy, sometimes price to build, and most importantly, why would they want the maxima, largely seen as a family sedan, to be a better out of the box performer than the Z (well, except whole handling thing, not that maximas suck, just not as tuned)

correct where seen fit

well it might cheaper in the long run to just mass produce one type of engine. and if it were in the maxima, it still wouldnt be as fast since its slightly heavier. and besides, no maxima will ever look as good as a Z of the same year.

I beg to differ...I would prefer the maxima to a Z32 for looks, but thats just me (95-96 Max...)
