note the placement above the manifold flange for the turbo, keep the w/g as close as possible to the turbo flange so it prevents creep and uneven pressure in the turbo manifold

does anyone know what the stock manifold is made of?

or how to weld to it? i thought it was cast iron, and that its a ***** to weld.

or your suppose to heat it up and braze it, then cool it very very slowly

anyone know?

It is cast. The guy who welded mine for me used to weld for the largest nuclear power plant in the US. He used a blow torch to heat it up and then tigged it.

black240jl-I can check to see if he's interested but, it was kind of a friend of a friend deal.

You can also use nickel rod for it.

Its much closer to a cast steel, it welds just like steel too. Better safe than sorry though, preheating is the way to go here. You need to use nickle rod, plus it looks cool!

My guy had an easier time welding the manifold than welding the flange onto the stub of pipe. I used schedule 40 black pipe as reccommended by James Thagard years ago. This is my second manifold setup like this.

Keep the pipe stub as short as possible for expansion/contraction purposes. This matters most if your recirculating the w/g and don't use a flex coupler of some sort.
