Okay before i pop out the question.... not new to 240's since i had a 96 se before but new to this forum.......

recently picked up a 91 240se s13 fastback ,disk brakes but i don't see ABS light on my cluster..... i did some search on identifying if it has LSD or open diff... heres my results from how to check if it has or not would like some input..

jacked the car up both tires off the ground....

1.. in neutral only one wheel spins, 2..in 1st gear both spins but opisite directions so far it points to no lsd 3.. if i put one wheel on the ground and try to spin it, it felt as if the wheel is locked up ...... now correct me if im wrong.. if its open diff shouldn't the wheel spin even if the other one is grounded? in gear that is

i allready did the lauch at 5xxx rpm and leaves two markschecked for the orange sticker, don't see any maybe its stuck on top? but i do see faded green sticker? oyeah and it looks like cooling fins on the back of the case..

i knoe its been asked frequently and did the search allready... just need to knoe if number test 3 is normal for open diff....

It is definately an open differential. Test 3 sounds normal. You are getting 2 streaks when dropping the clutch because You are on very smooth level ground. All s13 diffs have cooling fins.

BTW, please do not do launches at 5k rpms, unless you have a very good clutch and flywheel combo, as well as a well lubed transmission.

No offence, but if you cannot tell whether or not you have a vlsd in your car, then maybe you should wait a few months before making a decision on buying one. Once you progress to a certain driving skill level, and learn more about your car, then you will be in a better position to decide about what sort of LSD you want to buy.

none taken... thanks for the advice , i previously owned a 240se open diff, Mr2 turbo lsd and now have boosted civic b18c lsd... i wouldnt say im new to it but do knoe the importance of lsd, my 96 240se in winter didnt do squat!!!! in 1inch snow it was crazy really suprised me how easily it can get away from you... i've done some diggin even when i had my 96se before i sold it...

as far as the car it will be street and probably some track time... eventually go boost... debating to say ka-t or sr20.. kinda like that 2.4 but then again start out with a motor thats allready built for boost untill then im concetrating on suspension and traction (lsd)..........

so anyone with experiences or opinions on which route they went and how do you like it? or if you could do it over what would you have done differently.... thanks in advance..
