stock ka24e pistons in the ka24de block

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Im rebuilding a de and have a blown sohc but the pistons are good, has anyone ever taken the pistons for the e and put them in the de? not the head swap thing!

There was a thread about this Just this week! Search for it!

Also, you should never use used pistons when you rebulid a motor. Only new parts should go in no matter what. Especially when the new stuff is so cheap from the dealer...

not true.

as long as the parts you want to reuse are still within factory spec and you're sure they are in good condition, then they'll be fine. if the parts weren't broken when you disassembled the engine, they won't break just because you reused them.

never reuse gaskets or seals.

Yes they work, but putting E pistons into a DE block ups the compression ratio. I wouldn't do it if you are planning on going turbo though.

That may be so, but I would never tell anyone to use a used rod or piston based on the unknown stresses that these highly important engine parts have been through.
