I think that JWT also used to have a doc which showed all of the Nissan injector connectors (some are rectangular and the newer style have rounded corners). Anyway, can't find it, but it's all been covered before: the injector connectors are different, the manifold holes are different, the materials are different (early style seem to fail prematurely in the presence of ethanol and other additives), the wiring uses was different (though this is a function of the car, there's nothing stopping you from putting a relay in the early style car so that the injectors are only "live" when the key is on)
