So i went out to VatoZone and picked me up a timing light, i disconnected the TPS, warmed the car up, put the thingie on the #1 wire, stood on the passenger side of the car to look at the needle so that it would be lined up with the center of the crank pully. I put the light on it and its hitting almost right on the first mark past the yellowish Zero mark... so this means +5 right? how can it be that far off? i didnt think it would even run if it were that bad.. it does run pretty crappy and has like NO power.

well heres an update, i went back outside to advance my timing and when i went to loosen up the 2 screws that hold the distributor in place the top screw was pretty solid but the one on the side was already loose! so maybe this and vibration from the motor caused my timing to to get way off over time, i set it just a tiny bit past 15 cause i run 93 octane, i believe the book calls for 91..? (correct me if im wrong) anyway it seems to have more power and the hesitation is pretty much gone, i dont her anything that sounds like detonation (just my noisy lifters) so i think its good! now im gana crawl up under it and see if i cant get my speedo working! thanks for looking.

oh one thing i should mention is that when i did the timing my idle was pretty high, i believe your supposed to do it at 650rpm but mine was probably closer to 800 or so. dont know if this matters or not... let me know.
