Hey, I'm here with a friend who's looking to possibly run a low psi turbo on his 240, but unfortunatly he has already ordered stock fit 4-1 headers (custom fab), and since I really don't know how the headers tie in to the turbo physically, I was wonder if it is possible to run any size turbo on stock headers, or if there is an easy way to adjust it to fit, or if there is some type...something that makes it possible. The turbo will prolly be a T3 off an early 300zx and running 4 or 5 non-intercooled psi. Thanks in advance.

No. There is no way to run a turbo on a stock or aftermarket header. You have to buy a turbo manifold or make your own to accept the turbo.

theres is absolutely no way to fit it. unless you want to get a welder and just sh*t weld the turbo into the headers, it will never happen. you can custom fab your own manifold, someone posted a good custom fab your own turbo manifold site here on thursday but i cant find it. go to google and look up the title turbo setup for dummies and you should find what your looking for.

I think Honda boys do it on the CRX, i remember reading about it. IIRC they make a flange that allows the turbo to be mounted at the end of their stock header, i guess that makes for a really short downpipe :D. If you're crazy enough anything is possible.

yeah, last night after we read the first 2 posts we were looking around and found out about the CRXs too, its only like 4 years of the HF model that work or something.

But there is no way to get a custom piece of piping the runs from the end of the stock header to the turbo inlet? Or is there just not room under the hood for that or something?

Well it works on that honda manifold because it's really short. I've actually done it to a friends civic. lolBut the 240 manifold is way too long (especially a 4-1 header) that would put the turbo down almost under the oil pan. Then you could never route your oil lines properlly. My advice is to sell the header and buy a turbo manifold if you want to go turbo. plain and simple.

you could always use the manifold from a FWD KA and fab up something to mount the turbo under..the turbo would be just about 1/2" under the oil pan...sure it wouldn't spool as great, but hey boost is boost.

If the turbo is sitting below the oil pan than it could never return oil properly. There is no oil pressure once the oil is past the bearing. All that drains oil from a turbo is gravity.

I have seen the stock manifold turned upside down and fitted to fit a turbo, which I can't recall the size. It looked like crap though, and the money you spend getting it to work would be much better spent on a real turbo manifold. Get one.

I heard that probe turbos have a manifold that resembles the sohc ka but it has to be flipped upside down making it a top-mount.
