The only thing working on my stock head unit is the radio. I want to replace it with another stock head unit for a 2001 infiniti qx4 - assuming this is just a simple swap? I found some on ebay that include an aux input - would this make swapping out more difficult?

I really just want the tape player to work so I can connect Bluetooth that way.

Any ideas/suggestions? Pretty shocking to find used stock head units for $100+. I could go aftermarket but then would have to pay for install.

If my head unit died I wouldn't bother replacing it with another, almost 20 year old unit. There's a good chance you'll end up with a used replacement that also has issues.
For the same amount of money you can buy a very nice and modern 2 DIN style unit with the latest technology. There are OEM wiring adapter kits out there to make the job pretty quick and painless. You can get a nice new unit with Bluetooth built in for $150. The mounting kit is around $15 and another $35 for a wiring harness/line input adapter that will use your existing BOSE amps and speakers.

It looks like they modified that one in that eBay listing. That is a pretty common mod and if done right, can work out nicely.

I will dig out my factory head unit from storage and test it. IIRC it works fine, but I wanted Bluetooth and USB support so I swapped to an aftermarket. If it works, I will PM you with a price. It certainly won't be $100+

Finally got around to testing that radio. Everything works... except... the cassette player. I figure that pretty much ruins any value it might have for you. I will look into adding an Aux jack to it, but if you find a better option, go for it.

Heads up a1ustin.... there's a write up that explains how to make the mod to add an aux input to the Infinity bose radio, BUT you lose the CD changer! Look here: how-to-conect-ipod-mp3-directly-to-fact ... 82374.html

OP, you should have a message in your inbox. I have my stock radio after selling my 02 qx4. I took it out to put a USB-capable unit, but otherwise it was fully functional. It's got a sticker that says "refurbished" on it.

If you still need it for the cassette slot or anyone needs it to do the AUX mod or whatever, let me know and you can have it for free, just pay S&H.
