I have been reading for about three days straight now and just have a few general questions about a reliable rebuild.

I want a safe and reliable build without tons of expense. I'm also not going super crazy on boost... just looking in the 10-15psi range. Im already boosted but blew the ring on #1.

My instinct on the top end is to just have the head polished/honed (whatever the proper terminology is) and replace the valve seals. Then with a good head gasket and some studs all I would need on the bottom end are new bearings and some pistons (and machine work). A good tune should make this setup pretty reliable for under $1,000 shouldnt it?

To be fair the motor has 120k on it... anyone think I will run into having to do head work if I just leave the stock internals alone? Or are the stockers pretty reliable as they are?

Your valve guides and valves are probably reusable. I would say a 3 angle valve grind and some new seals as well as a 'deck' job should get you back in the game with lots of reliability.
