Stock Head Bolts

Is there a washer under the stock head bolts? The service manual shows them but when I tore my engine down there were none. Doesnt look like there is much space for one but if there is I need to track them down. That or put a set of ARP bolts in there.

yes there is a washer, are you sure they're not just stuck in with carbon?

are they a lock washer or just a flat washer? I power washed the head and nothing came out when I was carting it around..

there just a flat washer. Mine were kinda hard to get out, but if you power washed it and nothing came out then there are probably none in there. If you have a magnet pen to stick down there it helps .

make sure there not in the head before you do anything.theres room for them to hind inside the head.

Yea, definatly should have had washers in there. You need to find them ASAP.

There are a lot of little crevaces around the seat that the washers can get stuck in. I spent 30 minutes chasing one down. Little bastards.

I had to dig out my extendable pen magnet.

Ok I chased one out of the head and found the rest of them in the bed of my truck. They must have come out when I power washed the head. Thanks for the infor everyone.

anyone know the size of the allen hex the stock headbolts are off hand?

10mm. I got set of hex tip scockets at Harbor Freight for like $5. Don't forget to tap the hex into the stud with a hammer before you try to loosen. You don't have to when you tighten (@ least I didn't)
