Stock exhaust size for an 89 s13

Tried lookin back through the pages, can only find custom exhaust questions and shiat about cats n resonators.

Whats the stock exhaust piping size? 2.5? or 2.25?

1 7/8 is the stock exhaust size on my 89

yeah, it's really small. I busted out some string and a tape measure one day. shocked me too

so basically i'll need a cat with a 2 inch inlet/outlet

i thought for sure my exhaust would be around 2 inch or 2.25 inch. Am i better off going with a bigger pipe? or just leave it stock?

I think I'll stay stock size...

right now since i don't have a header, i am just running stock exhaust with a cherry bomb in place of the silencer and a resonated tip and 2 inch pipe in place of my muffler.with the ka24e's low compression it doesn't sound to bad and it only cost 25 or 30 bucks and still seems to give good power.with my pulley an afe air filter a gutted cat and that exhaust i pulled a 16.9 at 83 mph at last weeks idrc and thats at mile high,i also only have 40,000 original miles

thats f'n LOW miles man.

i pulled a gteched 16.9 with my 100k 89, with just an intake and nature's weight reduction

EDIT: so I would get a cat thats a 2 inch inlet/outlet right?

cool. i went to the track for the first time last week and got a 16.01 out of my 89 with 120k+ on it and just a filter and ghetto exhaust
