Okay. Ran into a buddy that is selling a NOS system for a great price. I think NOS and immediately red flags are waiving. My intention is to use it for light to medium "top end" shots (not for drag racing). Honestly... I really do not know much about this at all. I certainly don't want to destroy my engine... don't know how risky this will be. I am going to pick it up tonight and take it to a few people to see if it is compatible. Main question I have.... can I use NOS safely to REV through fourth to fifth for highway useage. AND... what should I keep in mind when using this. Fire away.... any experience with this... no matter how broad you take this topic will help me.

In my opinion, if you don't plan on racing, like you said, then you don't need NOS. What exactly do you mean by highway useage? The Z has plenty of grunt for highway passing. You don't need NOS for that.

Its possible to run NOS light and not damage the engine BUT it requires careful MOds and folks ALWAYS get greedy and do bigger and bigger shots until the motor blows.

If your car is not a daily and you can afford to replace your engine on occasion its a legit choice.

but if the Z is your only car and your on a budget , don't.

Thanks for the replies. They all are in the best interest of me just waiting and saving the money for a turbo or supercharger. Faster is always fun... but not at the expense of pretty much the best thing I enjoy in my life right now... full time student and new motors are not in my budget yet. But a mod at a time it will eventually get to where I want my car to be. SAFELY...

Thanks.

I know what you mean, I hate bad grammar, like those people that can't get "you're" and "your" correct - they drive me crazy. :poke:

I'm in the same boat as EROCK. I have the VQ35DE but in transverse mode. My coupe has a lot of pick up on the highway and was toying with the idea of N2O. Just for the occasional "need for speed". I know that systems today are built better than they were 10yrs ago. Of all the people and companies I spoke to, Its always a good idea to have fail safe mechanisms built in to make sure a catastrophic events doesn't happen like fuel pressure sensor, WOT kill switches and such. Does the kit you're getting have any kind of safety stuff that comes with it? If not, it might be a good idea to invest in some..
