how much hp can the stock crank hold? and how much hp can the stock turbo manifold handle?

not sure about that 'turbo manifold' question...we'll come back to that.

i know of cars in excess of 500 w/ stock crank. I dont know what the JUN silvia was using back in the day...Its strong, should be fine at the 450-500hp level...unless anyone here has any other experiences?

the stock turbo manifold can only 'fit' so big of a turbo, if you know what im saying. It wont necessarily be HP limited...A.Bailey is running about 370-400whp on a stock turbo manifold last i checked, but usually people go w/ a bigger turbo and manifold to get to that level.

a GT2835R should get you pretty close. A GT3037 will get you over. : ) It depends on how big YOU want to go.

Heh, what T3/T4? : ) A .64 turbine with 50 trim will do like 320 horsepower, a 50 trim with .82 will give about 400. Or you can go up to the 60 trim with a .82 and you can make 500 horsepower. : )

i beg to differ daunt..

the .82 really doensn't do that big of a difference once you get into the larger exhaust wheels. (dyno talks not me)

but i agree if your eusing a small T2small seriesed wheel or what not, hopping up to the larger A/R really helps it spool later in exchange for some great power up top.

Grumpy from Mckinney motorsports is running 45psi...

id be willing to say it will hold somewhere between 7-45psi, depending on what pistons, rods, rings, valve springs, valves, etc etc etc...fuel mods mean just as much, as well as engine management.

jesse

its a vague question.

My buddy's running a td06 20g with a stock crank. He had it balanced along with balanced s13 connecting rods and 87mm trust pistons. He's pushing 480ps at the wheeels. Destin

At what point is race gas going to become a necessity? I guess what I'm saying is what is maximum HP on pump gas? No octane boosters.

I could be wrong, but I don't think racing gas ever really becomes REQUIRED at least not until some insane power numbers. You can always do something else to keep from needing racing gas. Something else can just about always be done. Racing gas just lets you run a higher level of boost, but first make sure you can't run the higher levels on pump gas (ie efficient FMIC)

It depends on your compression, fuel delivery, and ability to cool engine components/air - it isn't about how much power you're making, its just that at higher horsepower you tend to be having more problems with those things.
