What does a stock 1997 Nissan Maxima SE w/ automatic transmission do in 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile? Does anybody know? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

this is from a moderator. it is not uncommon for them to be in the 15.6 - 15.8 range
"97 GXE Auto Cali Spec 15.62 @ 87 MPH -- 2.27 60' --- Island DragwayThis run was done totally stock with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel, no spare and no sub box. I torque braked at 2000RPM's just as both marker lights lit up."

ummmmm whatever they are they kinda keep up with my car. i dont know my time but i just know my 90se has enough mods to to take out a 97 though. i'm guessing mid 15's depending on the driver for a 97 auto w/ rims and CAI.

don't trust magazine numbers. a good driver can get a 4th gen 5 speed max into low 15's, possibly even high 14's if you get one with minimal amount of luxuries to keep the body weight low. i had a 95 5 speed prior to my 5.5 gen and there is no way in hell it's a 16 second car, even if it had a crappy nissan auto transmission.

top speed for 4th gen GLE and SE's is as far as the speedo will go since they are ungoverned. GXE's are governmed at 127 mph because their factory tires aren't speed rated as high as the upper models tires. however you can cut a wire in the ECU's wiring harness( i believe it is pink with a grey stripe) and that will remove the speed limiter on GXE's, however it will cause a never ending CEL. on a dyno i've seen a 4th gen SE do 152 mph but that's without wind and/or other external factors so i'd say about 145mph would be as high as it would go. As far as i know there is no variation between 95-96's and 97-99's. i personally had my 95 SE at 136 mph while racing my friends 01 Acura CL-S.
