Ok so we had a great time at the DFW (and Ardmore OK peeps) Altima Coupe/Sedan meet. Had a few more new people show up than last time which was great of course!

So CJizzle and I wanted to see what the difference would be with my Y-pipe, ebay exhaust (and my new Falken ZX 512 tires, unintended) and his 100% stock coupe. Both are CVT and '09 in this case.

We attempted a few rolling, and a few 0-60/80mph races, all in D mode, TCS Off and A/C off as well (weather was a little forgiving), or other unnecessary losses. Each of us had 1 passenger to keep things even for the camera car (CJ's).

I think we got good tests and results. Ranga14 and another fellow couper should have the youtube videos up soon (hopefully today?).

The conclusion was kind of expected by some, and sort of unexpected by me.

40~50 mph rolling start up to 100-110:
Looks like stock coupe pulls slightly ahead initially, until about 80+ mph, when I noticed I was creeping up and noticeably gaining more and more until I shutdown at 110 mph. Keep in mind the difference initially may have been anyone reacting faster off the mark taking the lead too. We attempted this twice and the above result seems to be consistent.

From a stop:
Lots of tire spin, my stinky tires let me know they were heating up from the short wheel spin I got, perhaps a little more than I expected. We tried two times, and both times it seems who ever launched better, got the lead initially. I want to say I may have the upper hand at higher RPM and speeds, as we approached 60+ mph in this test, I believe both times I topped out at 70-80 and stopped when I noticed CJ being behind by my car's bumper(?).

In conclusion, the 12 whp claimed by Racingline's Y-pipe will not let you start beating 350Zs if you are using an Ebay exhaust with it, seeing as how I barely had an edge over a stock coupe. Racingline very cleverly has a disclaimer if I recall, that using aftermarket exhaust may not yield the same results as stock exhaust + their Y-pipe. Now if someone would only get the Y-pipe and keep the stock exhaust, we'd see if it is true. :D

Neither of us have any suspension mods, except for my tires, so the 0 mph launches were about as stock as you can get.

Total invested into mods for my car: a little over $650 (Y-pipe, ebay exhaust + installaion). Falken ZX 512 245-45/18 tires ($800+)

Hopefully CJ will chime in and add his POV as I know sometimes we may have selective memory. :D

Yea, man.

Literally, all the races we had last night were about who had a faster reaction time and launched first.

From the rolling 40 - 110mph, I indeed had a better launch and at around 80/90mph, John and I saw your car catching up with us for about half to a whole car length then we were both at about the same speed after.

All the other 0-60 attempts were determined by who launched first. We had two "from the stop" launches and I won one and you won the other. (I did not notice your car pulling away from these attempts)

I was surprised at the outcome since you had the y-pipe and ebay exhaust.

Although one thing we know for sure is that your car will definitely pull up at around 80-90mph. :woot:

It was fun meeting new folks and looking at their mods. Kinda wanted to see how much faster the infamous turbo 3.5 would do against our cars lol :rotflmao
