OK, my stock Nissan alarm is psyco. When I leave it outside while it is hot, on an incline, or even on a cool day, the alarm will go off without anything happening to it. what is the problem!?

it can be diagnosed through the factory LED next to where it says security count how many times it flashes when you have some thing open like hood, trunk, or doors, or the ignition, it has too be one of those triggers

well it blinks the normal two, and is STILL psyco. I really need help. I want to disable the OEM one or change the sensitivity. It's really getting out of hand. If a alarm dealer can put in a new alarm and take out the old, then it can be done. any alarm specialists that can help out asap? thanks!

I have the same exact problem. I have an aftermarket alarm system as well but they couldn't disable the stock alarm system. The stock one will go out just for no reason. If you want to fix it temporarily, take our the fuse for the horn, but it will also disable your security system, horn, and cruise control. I have been trying to fix this myself. Someone please help!Josh

normal operation should be when you close the doors, and lock with the key or factory remotes with the blue semi cricular padlock button, the red led will come on and stay lit for thirty seconds, after which it flashes. If yours starts flashing as soon as you arm lock/ something is open or a switch is not operating properly. I don't think you can easily remove the factory alarm/security, it shares a module/mother board with the vehicles powerdoor locks and illuminated entry, it also integrates with the clutch/ starter circuit relay, to prevent the vehicle from starting. For the Nissan alarm problems, take it to the dealer, for aftermarket security try http://www.directed.com, look a the clifford, or viper models and find a dealer who sells these products.

WOW! ok i read in a nissan maxima site to ground the sensor for the hood. for 240sx's it's on the passenger side under the hood, right on the fender. It'll look like this

Now disconnect the connector that the sensor is attatched to

My problem was that my alarm will go off spontaneously. to elaborate on that, it would go off in hot weather, cold weather, night, day, anytime. Problem was one of the sensors either for the doors, trunk, or hood was not working. luckily it was my hood on teh first try. The hood damaged because the hood slams, you get the picture. This might be the problem that most people have with their cars.

The diagnostics for a a 95< 240sx OEM keyless entry system is as like what Silvia2b said up above. When you turn on the alarm, the security light should stay on (meaning the red light on if you're confused) for about 20 seconds. after that 20 seconds, it should start blinking, meaning normal operation. Thanks silvia for the diagnostic! and thanks to the maxima forum for teh suggestion!

oh if you're gonna park your car for a long period of time outside, to keep people from stealing your car, email me and i will tell you how. easy "disconnecting " of something. i don't want to post it on here, cause i know people are practical jokers lol.

It’s good that you discovered which entry point was the problem. Now it seems that you just have to replace the switch and everything will be back to normal. Yeah!

Ok guys I need some help with mine bad! cause I cant get it started...

I have a 95 with factory alarm but I DONT have the remote. As far as I knew it was all still intact just never armed. I have just been locking it normally with the key and unlocking it and I guess its bee arming and disarming that way from what I have read...

Well I went to unlock it today and it went off and wouldnt stop. I disconnected the horn so I coudl diagnose it. I pulled teh fuse, no help. I disconnected the hood switch, no help. I made sure everythign was closed and tried it, no help. I reset the ecu adn tried it, no help.

U guys have any suggestions? If I only had the damn remote. Is it possible to get another remote and have the dealer program it to my car? Is there anything you guys can think of that would cause this? Thanks for any help!

Candela don't know if the remotes are reprogramable. If you find out, I still have my factory remote.

My factory alarm went psycho a little after I had my s14. This psot lets me know that it's not uncommon. I didn't even bother trying to repair the factory one and just got an aftermarket one isntalled.

My factory alarm will still come on. If I lock the doors while a door is still open. A few miniutes after locking the car it will start honking (with all the doors shut). I just open the door with my key and it will stop.

candela, Try using your key int the passenger door, maybe the switch in the door latch mechanism is broken. The remotes are programable, if you need to program one I can help, I'll try to find the instructions. It required inserting the key into the ignition mulitple times in a predetermined time period then pushing the alarm remotes buttons. good luck.

Thanks a lot guys... I read in teh FSM how to arm and disarm it without the remote. I guess mine does arm itself when i get out close the doors and lock it with the key-verifiable by the red light staing on for 30 seconds then flashign afterwards.

Unlocking any of the doors or trunk shoudl disarm it. Lo and behold all I had to do was walk to the back of the car and unlock teh trunk with the key and it stopped. I haven't tried the passenger side door (will prolll work to) but i think the driver door one MIGHT be broken and thats why its going off all the time.

i bid on a remote on ebay so we will see how it goes down. Thanks for the info on programming it guys. Thanks again everyone!

SilviaS14KA24DE, i did what you said for programming the stock keyless entry. the hazard light came on after the 6th time but after i put my key in and hit the lock on the remote, the harzard light didn't come on. do you know what could be wrong with it? i just replaced the battery on my remote also.

hmmm. only thing i can think of is that it's the wrong remote. Make sure it's for a Nissan.

you should also verify that the remote is specfically for a 240sx, the pathfinder,300z, quest, remotes are on a different frequency, and usually have additional channels that the 240sx can't recognize.

I have the same problem with my '92 Maxima SE. The factory alarm would go off for no reason. The neighbors have called the cops twice on me allready because I wasn't there to disarm it. I have to disconnect the battery each time I leave it parked. Where would I find that ground alarm switch for the hood and the doors? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

it's the hood sensor. Try and find it along the fenders (under the hood). Look at the pictures above. It should be around the same area

If I leave the hood sensor or one of the door sensors disconnected on my Maxima, would it cause a problem for the alarm?

I have a simaler problem with my 95 240 but I think it is my passenger side door. I can open the door and the dome light does not come on unlike when I open the drivers side door. Do I need to ground the sensor or just unplug it?

yeah. it's your passenger door sensor that probably a) got disconnected somehow or b) needs to be replaced because it's probably broken. Go down to the dealership to buy one.
