So I recently bought a 2010 Rogue SL and I love it so far. I have a couple questions about the stock alarm system and hopefully someone can help me clarify them. I have searched the forum and had little luck finding answers.

I hate the "digital honk" as it has been called in other threads. When I hold the two buttons to disable the honk, my corners blink three times, and when I unlock there is no honk...but this only lasts for 1 cycle. The next time I try to disarm, it honks again. :wtf2: Is there a way of permanently disarming the honk, or am I missing something?

The other quirk that causes me to scratch my head is when I press the keyless door handle unlock button, the alarm goes off unless I have previously unlocked the doors using my key fob. Does this seem counter-intuitive to anyone else? I would think the alarm would disable if I press the keyless button with the key in proximity.

is it also standard that you have to press the unlock button on the fob twice to disarm the alarm? Every alarm I've previously had disarmed after one click and then you could press it again to unlock all the doors if you needed to. I thought all alarms worked like this.

Any information to help me solve these issues would be greatly appreciated. I know they sound like small issues but the small things tend to grate on your nerves after awhile =) I have already gotten a lot of great information from these board and I plan on being an active member.

I am not sure what you mean by stock alarm. Stock rogue does not have alarm (unless it change)
The only "semi alarm" system rogue have is when you lock the door with the key, then later unlock the door from inside the car, the honk will go off
The second question you have, i believe you mean to unlock the car with two clicks.
(I have a 08 rogue so I am not sure if they change over time)
This is a "feature" I would say. When you first press the button to unlock, it first unlock the driver side (or passenger side) depend of which handle button you press. When you press it the second time, it unlock all door. This prevent other people from entering your car when you are along.
You other question, you might need to wait for other "senior" (I mean more knowledge :P) member to answer

That is the procedure I followed already after I searched the board for help. It automatically reverts to horn mode :/

Sorry I missed this response due to browsing on my phone. I refer to the alarm as a stock alarm because it is controlled by my nissan keyless fob, and it is listed in my nissan owner's manual. The alarm triggers if I open a door without disarming or unlock the doors using the keyless button without disarming.

So my point on this matter is that I can unlock/disarm from the key fob, but not walk right up to my car and press the handle-unlock button to do the same without the alarm sounding.

I understand the "feature" of double-tapping to unlock all doors. Realistically you don't want to allow someone to jump in your passenger seat if you're alone. Therein lies my "head scratcher". Why must I press the button twice to disarm my alarm, thereby unlocking all my doors in the process? Shouldn't it disarm after one click and simply give me the option of clicking a second time if needed?

Tried to switch my alarm mode over again this morning. Still having the same issue. It automatically reverts to horn mode.

Quick question: Does your Rogue reset your clock every now and then? I'm wondering if there's a loose battery cable, reverting the car back to default settings.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
The vehicle security system details can be found in your manual. The 2011MY book has them in section 2-26 to 2-28. It may start on a slightly different page for the 2010MY.

If you're still experiencing problems getting it to stay off after following the instruction's, you may need to have the system checked at your local dealership.

The battery cables are secure, clock has never reset itself. I guess I'll have to go to the dealer at some point and have them check it out.

Does everyone else's alarm function in the same way with regards to the "double-click to disarm" and also the inability to disarm from the handle buttons? I am trying to figure out if these are standard operations or if mine is quirky. My friend's Lancer has a similar setup and it disarms when he pushes the keyless handle button.

Thanks for all your input guys, I appreciate it =)

I can't really answer that because I don't have the buttons on the door handles. My Rogue unlocks just fine with 1 unlock press, and no "alarm" goes off.

My Lancer works like your friend's though.

I have a 2012 SL, and mine unlocks/disarms with the door handle buttons, and just 1 click of the FOB...
maybe try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins, and reseting everything to factory defaults? yours is borked somewhere.

That's what I thought :/ I had the negative terminal disconnected for a few hours while I was swapping my stereo but no luck. Would I need to d/c the positive terminal also? Unsure how the system works.

If your Rogue is still under warranty then it's time to take it to the dealer. Something is not right with your system.

You sure there isn't an aftermarket alarm system of some sort installed on it?

Yeah I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and bring it in at the end of the week. Definitely not an aftermarket alarm system. Hopefully its not too much of a hassle to have it checked out.

I have a 2012 SL and it works as you are requesting. I walk up to the locked vehicle. press the handle button once to unlock the drivers door, or twice to unlock all doors. No alarm sounds. Press and hold to lock all doors. Didn't know you chould change the honk mode by pressing both buttons, I'll have to try that out. I don't always want to wake my neighbors when I'm coming home late.
