Sounds like you have a lot to learn. Well if you're stock, I'd recommend looking into your suspension as well... Ya know, bushings, shocks, sway bars, etc... Just a thought.
However back to your question about engine. Yes, like people are saying, lower compression pistons with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. If you are unfamiliar with the compression ratio, Google it, and learn more about it. Since you're going to get some better pistons, get some better piston rods too, this way you'll have a less of a chance of bending your rods. After all if you're going to spend 4 grand into an engine, may as well try to make it as bullet proof as possible. You're also going to need some bigger injectors, 550CC and up for a T3 I would say, as well maybe a new fuel pump.
If you want to do pump gas, I would say you should do some research into E85 gas, and convert over to that. I have seen some very impressive HP gains from it. Prepare to pay for some good tuning sessions. I would look at an AEM setup for tuning as well.
Of course the things like a turbo exhaust manifold, intercooler and intercooler piping, fuel pressure regulator, z32 mass airflow sensor (MAF), blow off valve, waste gate, and new exhaust system with a down pipe for the turbo. (Am I forgetting anything? Feels like I am..)
There are lots of other things you can look at too. New valves, valve springs, new cams, upgraded radiator with electric fans, oil coolers, new tires with desired off-set, increasing oil pressure, new intake manifold, porting and polishing, and search.
Basically, no one here is going to hold your hand with how to build your engine. It really comes down to you doing the research on the parts you want. There's lots of great information on the web, as well as tons of terrible information, so be careful what you believe. Get professional help when possible. Use the Search function here, be creative with how you search too. The answer may be there, but it'll take a little time to get to it. Also search Google, some times I have found the answer I need out there in the world wide web.
(This post was inspired by boredom at work since it's such a slow day.)
