STOCK 240sx VS. SMOG .. FAILED

I recently purchased a 240sx from a friend of mine for $2000Its a 92 5 spd 240 se with 130,000k mi. It also came with the famous timing chain problem.. i didnt get it fixed yet. (lack of time)

but went ahead and smogged it hoping itd pass with no problems.few minutes later the guy tells me my engine light popped up. - Everything else passed except my my Ignition Timing being Defective at 27 BTDC and the engine light So i was wondering if that could be the reason why my light is on?Could anyone please help? Im new to NIco and cars in general.. an i hope to learn more from the info this site and everyone of you have to offer.

my Options at this point- 1. Diagnois Engine and Get timing Reset $60 2. Fix Timing Chain at shop for around $400-600

you can reset the cel yourselfs. Do an ecu diagnosis test and it will pinpoint your problem. As for the the timing chain problem, i highly recommend removing the timing guides yourself. You'll save alot of money doing yourself.

I jus reset the cell and turned da screw all the way counter clockwise and then the engine light did not pop up.. But once i drive it , the engine light starts blinking. O_O. timing is on 20 degree .. it idles at 700 rpm
