Hey everyone, Im never in the ca18 forums because Im planning on swapping my 91 240 ka, with sr20, but today at the races I found a guy selling his 84 silvia. Im hopefully going to buy it from him, but first I would like to know if anyone knows what a stock 84 silvia ca18det's 1/4 mile time is. Ive seen alot of different ca18det 1/4 mile times in the sticky at the top of this forum but found none that were actually in a 84 silvia( and I dont know the difference in what it would effect the 84 silvia as far as its overall weight and weight distribution... so that still doesnt answer what it would run in a 84 silvia. Can anyone help me out here? I dont wanna buy it if its gonna be too slow for me, I know it'll whoop my 240's time, but still for the price Im paying for the car ($2000-$2500) i could just use the cash for my sr20 swap. I dont have alot of time as true silvias are rare and i probably wont get this opportunity for a while whereas I can always buy the car first, then save up again and swap my out my 91 ka... Any help appreciated big time, and sorry in advance if theres somewhere I havent searched yet that has this info.

The 200sx 84 doesnt have the CA18DET there were 3 engine choices

CA20ECA18ETVG30E (6 cynlinders)

i think the CA18ET is approx. 130 140 HP.

go take a look on clubs12.org there a lot mroe info on the car.

According to Wikapedia the 84 s-12 was called a silvia notchback or gazelle hatchback in japan, as his is from japan... But yeah its gotta be the sohc CA18ET

S12The S12 platform was produced from late 1983 to early 1989. The US 1984-1986 Hatchback came with either the CA18ET or CA20E and the 1987-1988 Hatchback came with either the VG30E or CA20E. Coupe models were only equipped with the CA20E. Only the US models had the VG30E option in 1987 and 1988. In Canada the 1984-1988 Hatchback came with either the CA18ET or CA20E. Once again Coupe models were equipped with only the CA20E. In Australia, Europe and Japan quite a few different engines were available. The CA20E was available in all of these areas throughout the entire production run. Both a coupe and a hatchback were available in these markets. 1984-1988 hatchbacks were available with any engine offered in the given area (FJ20E, FJ20ET, CA20E, CA18ET) but the Coupe was only available with the CA20E, except for the RS-X version which came with the FJ20ET. The FJ20ET and the FJ20E are dual cam motors (this is not denoted in the engine code). The 1988 Japanese RS-X was equipped with a CA18DET in place of the previous FJ20ET.

More information on these cars is available at http://www.club-s12.org/board.

S12 Breakdown: United States and Canada-- 200SX (XE, SE and Turbo). Europe-- 180ZX or Silvia. Australia-- Gazelle (GL & SGL). Japan-- Gazelle (Hatchback) or Silvia (Notchback).

But yeah ima go check out club-s12.org
