I read the stiffening the chassis thread, but noone mentions stitch welding.

I pulled the carpet out of my car to start prep of wedling a patch in the giant a** hole in my floor pan, and noticed there are some stitch welds already around the tub.

Would it be advantageous to add more stitch welding to the passenger compartment? Or is the factory stitching adequate?

I would like to know if anyone knows places that could benefit from stitch welding reinforcement.

I figure I have the carpet out, I have the angle grinder out, I have the welder out, might as well stiffen up things a bit...

this is the main question that comes into play:

"Why are you stitch welding?"

If you are doing it just to do it & it's a 99% daily driver, there's no reason to take it that far.

That aside, yes, stitch welding will make the chassis stiffer. The factory stuff is more like "spot welding".

You can pretty much stitch weld any weak spots/seams in the car - just depends on how much time you have.

I wouldnt do it unless your gonna track the car alot. it seems more dangerous to me for a dd becuase if you get into an accident, the car wont crush in and absorb impact as its supposed to

sounds good- I'm having a problem with fixing the floorpan as is...

for some reason the car doesn't want to co-operate.
