Mass transit here is a joke. I NEED it and can't get it. To take the bus to school, 6 miles from my house, I need to ride it for over 3 hours, into the city, then back out again. I personally believe mass transit is a catch 22. No one uses it because it's not there and it's not there because no one uses it.

Fair enough, your situation is definitely valid. That is definitely slow. So what needs to be done is not build a better transit system (when I hear that I think of building a completely new one) but add to the current system to expand service to where it's needed.

Here in MI, they've been talking about building a couple of new systems between Ann Arbor and Detroit, and Ann Arbor and to the north, as a way to reduce congestion on the freeways during rush hour as the two corridors have grown outside of their capacity. They want to do this via a commuter rail system. Money for the system between Detroit and Ann Arbor is in the stimulus package. But the question is, do we really need a new system or can we just expand current systems? Because there is Amtrak service between Ann Arbor and Detroit.
