So the only thing you are changing is the tube between the intake manifold and the air filter box. Like so:

How did you handle the vacuum connection? Just forced into place?

FYI..

I only kept the short ram on. For safety purposes I didn't want to put the extension to close to the floor and suck in water (God forbid)

my infiniti is hardly ever driven anymore we just got a new car for my wife so she doesn't bother it except maybe once a month. I drive it on weekends sometimes. plus I just installed the undertray from tollboothwilley, I should be fine.

Does the Injen short ram suffer from that much heat soak?
Im starting to think I should switch back to the stock box and trade for a Ztube.
Suppose to have it tuned tomorrow from RAD in Long island but now im thinking i should switch back and put off the tune.

The short ram will injest hot air.... if your M is your daily driver (and based on your description, you're located on the East Coast) I'd switch back to the stock air box and install the Z-tube. not sure if you already have the plenum spacer, but the combo of the Z-tube, stock air box and plenum spacer will do fine....and keep you on the road during the rainy/snowy months back East.

I'm in Cali and my M isn't my daily driver so I don't have an issue with the Injen CAI (the air filter gets outside air from the lower fog light area). I don't drive the M when it rains (which it hardly rains in Southern Cali)

BTW, I just took out the Injen Air Filter Cone to inspect/clean it yesterday....hardly even dirty, but still put the vacuum nozel to it....I'm barely driving 5K miles for the year since picking up other cars to drive. I love my Versa :dblthumb:

Thanks for the suggestion. I have the motordyne plenum spacer and the lower intake and throttle body spacers. I'll def look into the Z-tube then. Thanks alot.

I'm sure in SoCal it's better to have the intake along with the extension...

but I love my intake! :dblthumb:

Does a product like Z-Tube exist for the V8 in the 2006 M45? I want to keep my factory airbox.I noticed my intake boot was cracking slightly and an OE replacement is nearly $200.

I haven't seen an aftermarket replacement, but you should try and get an OE replacement by searching for salvage yards or even Infiniti Forum classifieds -- it's possible that M45 guys swapped out the OE set up for CAI (cold air intakes)....

Cool. Thanks, CPJ. I'll look into that. I found one on eBay for pretty cheap but I was a little leery of buying used. I figured since mine is cracking then others of the same age/mileage will most likely be cracking or will start at some point soon.
