Stillen Vs Megan is by no means a new thread, BUT nowhere in those old threads is the interior sound discussed. Specifically interior noise levels at cruising speeds. When I mash the pedal, the throaty groan will invade the cabin and that is most welcome, but I don't want a constant, loud droning sound in the cabin on long trips. If it's just slightly noticeable, that's fine, but if it's throaty and loud even whilst on cruise control I will likely keep the stock set-up.
Could those of you who have installed Megan or Stillen give me an idea of what to expect before I hit Freddie up with my Megan order or look for a Stillen set-up?
Much appreciated, gents!

I have the Stillen full exhaust and love it. To me, it has a nice low rumble sound and when you step on it, it comes to life. One of the Best Mods I have done to my car so far. Just my opinion, never heard Meagan's exhaust though. Hopefully some other people will chime in as well with their opinions as well. Hope this was helpful Larz.

Are you looking for a few extra HP or just a really nice noise?

I'm looking for a nice throaty sound when I give it the beans, but without having a constant, loud drone invade the cabin while cruising on long trips.

Both exhausts are quiet during normal cruising though I found the Stillen to be slightly quieter than the Megan. I switched from the Megan because of the Job Design kit I put on my car (the Megan tips looked weird and didn't fill the space of the rear bumper and couldn't be modified with new tips). I think you'll be happy with either.

Also keep in mind finding a Megan exhaust is becoming harder and harder.

That being said, I have the Stillen from my M45 I'd be willing to sell you Larz if you're interested. You would just need to purchase new exhaust tips as I no longer have the stock ones.

if you're just going to install the axle-back's (mufflers only) - either one you will be fine with interior noise levels. However, if you plan on upgrading the ypipe, mid-pipes AND mufflers, then you will get into the area of louder noise levels.

I believe that Stillen makes cat-back systems specifically for the M35 & M45 - due to power/noise balance. In other words, they make an exhaust for a V6 which may not be compatible to a V8 and vice/versa.

In my opinion, if you are just looking for a little more noise when you 'step on it', then it might be an idea just to get the Megan mid pipe while keeping your stock ypipe and stock mufflers (just change the tips to larger ones and change the inlet pipe of the stock mufflers to 2.5" - to match up with the Megan mid pipes)

I currently have the following set up: Megan Verson2 Ypipe, Megan mid pipes, stock mufflers w/larger tips and larger inlet piping to mufflers (about an 8" section of piping that my exhaust guy welded on to replace the smaller stock inlet muffler piping) this set up, compared to many exhaust set ups that I've done on my M, it is quiet during cruising and no cabin drone...NONE. but, when I 'get on it', I have the benefit of better exhaust flow - performance, and better/sporty sound - it closely resembles the G35 stock exhaust but a little deeper. Now, I can be stealthy with the cops driving around since my set up looks stock. it also gets a lot of other Infiniti drivers by surprise "if" we do a little bit of spirited driving...I always get asked if my car is stock or what modifications I have

OK maybe this comes out of context but I have a burning question I have a 2006 M35 and I sold a 2003 G35 sedan to my sister now she messed up the engine after 9 months of purchasing it and she's parting it out. When I owned the g35 I installed a dual stollen exhaust with X pipe. My question is will the X pipe fit my M35? :ohno: if someone can plz reply asap thanks
