Anyone with opinions, or better yet, experience with these different variations of the z tube?

Wanting one pretty soon, probably to go with a JWT popcharger, eventually.

Hope to find an OEM one used for cheap, cause $80+ for OEM new piece of plastic seems way too high. but the Stillen one is around $60 in places, while the polished one is $100+.

Searched but couldn't find anything on the Stillen or polished ones.

Thanks

Whatever you get make sure it has a heatshield or you're gonna lose HP. Think Injen makes a CAI for the g35..

I know there are plenty of CAIs. But general opinion is that the Z tube and popcharger is cheaper and still gains more power. Just trying to see if anyone can tell a difference in the different Z tube designs.

Check out EverythingG35 or Riverside Infiniti. I believe both sell the OEM Z tube for much less than $80.

My concern with the polished Z-tub is the heat soak from it being metal.

My personal goal would be to have an AEM style short ram with the MAF hole and a custom built heat box on the end.

EverythingG35 = $80Didn't see anything on ebay for riversidemynismo = $88etc, etc

Seems the stillen tube has decent reviews, nothing wrong with it, just the same as OEM basically, just a worse outside finish (I don't care about that). Apparently it is molded to bend around the A/C line so not to rub as well.

I would just get a short ram, if I could figure a way to make a heat shield. But instead leaning towards the JWT popcharger.

Don't really need to spend money on this until I get the car tinted and get my other car put back together, so I'll keep looking around.

Wow. Prices have gone up. I could have sworn it was around $60 last time I checked.

Call around to some of your local Nissan Dealers and see if they have a Z-Tube take-off from Nismoing a Z.....worth a shot. I bought one of my Z-Tubes at Modern Nissan of Lake Norman for $15.....they just so happened to have one laaying around in the parts dept. from modifying a Z with a Nismo CAI.

I don't believe you would have to be that concerned with heat soak when it comes to the tube being metal. The heat soak to be concerned with would be that of the air being drawned into the tube being from the engine compartment or the outside.

The amount of heat transferred from the tube to the air flow would be determined by the retention time of the air within the tube itself which should be minimal. My belief is that as far as performance you would noticed little difference between tubes of various materials as long as all other factors remained the same (how smooth the interior surfaces of the tube is, bends, rigidity, etc.). This is not to be confused with noise.

No luck at modern in winston on having any used Z tubes. They say they give them back to the owner keep them everytime.

You would think there would be a surplus of these laying around.
